The goal of DayZ is to stay alive and healthy during the conditions of the zombie outbreak that have befallen the in-game world. The game sold over three million copies during its early access phase. The development has been focused on altering the engine to suit the game's needs, developing a working client-server architecture, and introducing new features like diseases and a better inventory system. As a survivor, the player must scavenge the world for food, water, weapons, and medicine, while killing or avoiding the infected, and killing, avoiding, or cooperating with other players in an effort to survive the outbreak.ĭayZ began development in 2012 when the mod's creator, Dean Hall, joined Bohemia Interactive to commence work on the standalone version of the game. The game places the player in the fictional post-Soviet Republic of Chernarus, where a mysterious plague has turned most of the population into violent "infected". DayZ Mod or DayZ Epoch Mod or DayZ Origins Mod, all of which will need Arma 2 (Operation Arrowhead), they're all, obviously, mods for the game called Arma 2, which is another Bohemia Interactive game, there aren't many servers up for any, but there are full ones, and the mods are free, and you can pick up both Arma 2 and Arma 3 (Grab the full packs when they go on sale for both, A2 can be had for literally a couple bucks when it does, A3 will cost like 30 maybe for the ultimate on sale, trust me, A3 is definitely worth it) and then, to Arma 3, again, also made by BI, personally Arma 3 is a better game than DayZ SA, it's a sandbox military simulation, but, you can do anything, game modes, multiplayer, air to air, sea, tanks, infantry, build missions, king of the hill, scenarios, mods similar to DayZ Mod, like mentioned for A2, there's Epoch Mod for A3, A3S(Arma 3 Survival), Exile Mod (my favorite).tons of stuff. After that, I highly suggest going back to the beginning, or at least the middle/end lol.
You'll want to use what's called DZSAL (DayZ Standalone Launcher) which is a custom launcher that's easier to use than the vanilla built-in game launcher, it's easily found through a quick Google search. Otherwise, trust me, you'll be able to find something quick that's fitting. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say I'm pretty sure StalkerZ is still active, if not, there's others. Tons of good RP servers if that's what you're into. If you've enjoyed DayZ SA on console, come on over to PC, you're going to kick yourself for not doing so sooner, plus, you'll realize the vast amount of other games you never realized you didn't know about and didn't know you needed.
